Plymouth, Torquay, Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Brighton, Crawley, Aldershot, Reading, Wycombe, Oxford, Watford, Stevenage, MK Dons, Barnet and Tottenham are all now ticked off! Sam Letts & family smashed the Bournemouth-Southampton-Portsmouth leg so a big shout out to them and their incredible camper van.

Thanks to Wycombe FC for allowing us to come along to their training ground for a photo with the team before Mr Kirby and Mr Turner teamed up on a tandem next to the Blackburne brothers for what can only be described as a comedy leg! It’s good that Kirby worked out how to use the gears going uphill……!

Well done to Tony Munro who survived sleet and a puncture to complete the Stevanage leg!

Pitch appearances at Bournemouth, Brighton, Watford and MK Dons help continue to spread the word about Always A Chance across football grounds in England and Wales. A special day today at White Hart Lane as Emmanuel Adebayor walked past us with Kevin Bond but instead of asking photo we just stared and muttered utter nonsense! Special mention to Harry and Mathew two of the younger participants who did a great job today at Spurs.

It’s now time to tick of all the London legs and we look forward to pitch appearances at Crystal Palace, Arsenal, QPR, Millwall and Leyton Orient along the way.

Thanks for your continued support!

Join us on Facebook @ Always A Chance to see all of the photo’s and video’s.

Legs 8-19 have now been completed! Well done Rob & Mark Blackburne who took on what has to be the hardest leg of the 92 so far from Swansea-Cardiff completing it with ease. Special mention to Swansea FC for brilliant hospitality including a half time announcement about Always A Chance and the 92 Club Relay.

16 brave souls and a dog braved the wet weather on Saturday February 18th to walk the 5.5 miles from Bristol City to Bristol Rovers in time to watch a thrilling 0-0 draw at Rovers Memorial Stadium. Top marks go to 10 year old Sam Page who took part in the half time baton hand over at half time as 6,512 fans watched on as the half time announcer promoted the 92 Club Relay.

Knee’s are sore but spirits are still high as we tick off more clubs!. Next up is a pitch appearance at Bournemouth vs MK Dons on Saturday 25th February.

Well done to Sam Letts for taking on legs 20 and 21 this weekend running 49.5 miles over two days! What an absolute athlete!

Leg 6 saw us take on a 9am start from Birmingham heading to Wolves Molineux stadium all was going well until the GPS crashed! We knew we were heading in the right direction though as it said go left to Birmingham (10 miles) or head right to Wolves (3 miles) so we heading in the direction of Molineux or so we thought…. After running for 16 miles we decided to get off the canal route and onto the main route, as we headed up the hill we saw a sign that said “Wolves 10 miles” with the arrow pointing back towards the way we came!!!!! We had to laugh as it was if Coops & Jam were playing a prank on us from somewhere high above.

We finally arrived at Moilineux a lot later than planned! It was lucky that Tony the marathon runner was on board with us to complete the leg. It’s worth a special mention that Tony has never met Coops or Jam before but he saw an article about Always A Chance and wanted to raise some money for the charity. Absolute hero.

I must also mention when I wrote “we” got lost it was in fact Joe Hallett who got lost!!!

Paul delayed our trip to Shrewsbury due to a hissy fit about his helmet not looking cool enough and that it didn’t suit him. I was more worried about his £10 luminous Donnay trousers.

Chris Brown completed the 30 mile bike ride just before dark and was rewarded for his efforts with a pitch appearance at Molineux for Sunday’s derby in which Wolves got smashed by West Brom!! Matt Murray, Jody Craddock & Kevin Kilbane all joined the boys for a photo during which Brown’s choc muffin was stolen by Kilbane!! Brown commented that he only stole the muffin because he was jealous of his good looks!

Snow stopped play for legs 3 & 4 which have now subsequently been rearranged for the end of April but nothing could stop leg 5 from going ahead from Walsall’s Bescot Stadium to Birmingham’s St Andrew’s on a bitterly cold Tuesday afternoon!

Members of Dynamo FC dribbled two football’s for the duration of the leg much to the dismay of local hero Chris McIntosh, the last time Chris participated in any exercise was the Great Ocean Road half-marathon where he was overtaken by a man in a pram on the home straight so you can imagine his disappointment at trailing to a team of dribbling footballers! Macky informed us before starting the leg that his training for this leg consisted of giving up smoking the day before the leg.

Great hospitality from Richard Page in the Trevor Francis suite who talked us through his favourite ever Trevor Francis goals! Chris Kershaw kindly sorted out a half-time presentation on the pitch with an announcement being made to the crowd promoting the 92 Club Relay.

Coventry City legend Steve Ogrizovic got in touch with us and said he’d like to come down and wish us luck on our cycle to Villa Park. It was a fantastic gesture, and meant a lot to us as we are all huge Coventry City fans. It was an honour to take the charity and James’ Coventry shirt to the Ricoh Arena, and very much put them in the spotlight. The Always A Chance team made an appearance on the pitch at half time, so it was a great opportunity for the team to spread the word about this amazing event.

The weather took a turn for the worst half way through with the downpour of snow, which made cycling on the A45 extremely difficult. We saw quite a few cars stuggling to get grip on the ice so we knew we had a challenge on our hands! We were delighted to get to Villa Park in just under 4 hours, and the snow gave us the perfect opportunity to leave the charity name pitchside.

James Mckenzie, Steve Ogrizovic, Ben Webster and Hugh Bates.

What started as an ambitious vision 8 months previous has turned into an exciting reality that is now only four weeks away from the start. Northampton Town Youth team will join us for the first mile of the leg, Northampton-Coventry on 2nd February, along with some surprise guests!

The support we’ve received from the football clubs has been incredible so a big thanks to all of those clubs that have offered us pitch appearances, bucket collections, programme notes and signed shirts we really appreciate it.

To all of the media, supporters clubs, Universities, friends and footballers who have sent out tweets promoting the 92 Football Club Relay you’re all stars! My personal favorite has to be from the legend that is Shaka Hislop who I was a big fan of growing up so cheers for making my day Shaka!

If you haven’t signed up for a leg then now’s the time, from 0.5-117 miles there’s a leg for everyone.

See you on the road friends…..

We’ve just secured the involvement of several Premier League clubs and we’re particularly excited about our partnership with Manchester City. They’ve agreed to a change over of the baton on the pitch at half time of a premier league game. We’re delighted to have them on board.

We’ve been amazed by the interest in the run so far and are expecting thousands of people to take part in this historic event. Lots of people means lots of planning and so we’re working round the clock to make sure everything runs smoothly come February. It’s also just dawned on me that we have to run the 30 miles from Northampton to Coventry in 84 days time…damn.
